Police cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr. W. G. Eiddell, S.M.

"He has a list of previous convictions, and Has been warned by the police, but his bouse since then haß been frequented by vagrants," said Senior-Sergeant Lander, of Robert M'Nab, aged 57, who was charged with being idle and disorderly in that he occupied a house at 25, Sage's lane, and permitted it to be frequented by personß with no visible lawful means of support. M'Nab was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.

James Walton, alias Martin Carroll, alias Cown, alias Dixou, alias George Matthews, a labourer, aged 44, admitted being an idle and disorderly person, with insufficient lawful means of support. Sen-ior-Sergeant Lander said that the accused came from the South about a fortnight ago. _ Walton, who has a list of previous convictions, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. A seaman, Thomas Alexander Dale, agtd 24, charged with forging a receipt for £6 13s Od in the name of I. Carter, and with causing John Wood Burgess to act on it as if it were gemiiue, was remar.ded to Wednesday next on the application of Chief-Detective Ward. Bail in the sum of £50 with one surety of £50 wan allowed.

"This woman has been under observation by the Mount Cook police for a long period," said .Senior-Sergeant Lander of Margaret Cusworth, aged 43, who was charged with being idle and disorderly in that she habitually consorted with reputed thieves and prostitutes. The SeniorSergeant stated that Cusworth had been consorting with convicted prostitutes and convicted vagrants, and she had been leading a vagrant's life consistently during the period she had been under observation. "She has been warned by the police," continued the Senior-Sergeant, "but she has failed to take any notice of the warnings. Two of her associates have been before the Court recently, and both were convicted." A sentence o fthree months' imprisonment was imposed.
