HOSPITAL MATRONS
CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON
At the conference of matrons of hospitals of the Dominion yesterday it was resolved to form a New Zealand Council of Hospital Matrons. Miss Stott, of the Wellington Hospital, was elected the first president, and Miss Davis (Palmerston North) and Miss Kenny (Dunedin) vicepresident.". After discussion, 'a number of resolutions were carried. As to the hours of duty of nurses, it Tvas agreed that it would be impossible to arrange uniformity throughout all hospitals, as conditions varied considerably. It was decided to send a recommendation to the Registration Board that the present anatomy book be changed. To enable private nurses to keep up to date, it was suggested that nurses who have been private nursing for two years or more be accepted on the" staff of hospitals for a refresher course of six months oi 1 more as a fourth-year course. It was decided that it be recommended to the Registration Board that an elementary text-book on economics be added to the curriculum of probationers.
