IMPOSSIBLE SUGGESTION
(By Telegrsph.)
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The suggestion that an endeavour should bo piade to match teams from the rival Eugby codes in aid of the unemployed fund was not taken seriously at a meeting of the Unemployment Committee yesterday, "I know it is quite impracticable,'' said the Mayor (the Rev. J. K. Archer) when the laughter had subsided, after he had brought forward a request from the Eugby League that a match between the leading Eugby Union and League teams in aid of the committee's funds be arranged to take place at Lancaster Park on a future Saturday. The Mayor said that there had been" a deputation to him on the matter. The members discussed the proposal in a jocular manner. One of those who spoke at the deputation of unemployed to the Mayor yesterday wishes it made plain that what he said was that after meeting with an accident in the employ of the Public Works Department he had received half pay and accident pay for ten weeks, and it then ceased. He was advised to take legal action, but was unable to j do' 80. '""" '"' ; ■■' ;
