PARAMOUNT THEATRE.
"Variety," now showing at the Paramount Theatre, is a remarkable picture. Tlie star actor arid actress in the new play are Emil Janhiugs and Lya de I'iitti. Miss de Putti was formerly a premier danseuse, "Variety" opens with a prisoner tolling his life to the warden. Twenty years before the man had been a member of the world's greatest acrobatic act. His partner, Artinelli, made love to his pretty wife. He challenges him to a duel, ends his career, and gives himself up to justice. The scenes behind the stage constitute a prominent part r" the story, and display the marvellously fine acting of the principals. The orchestra, under the direction of Mr. R. Caulton, contributes several special numbers in addition to the incidental music.
