HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.

As refined' as tasteful Irooking and selected humour can make vaudeville ami still leave it racy, "Screams and Scenes," presented at the opening of the Bon Bon .Revue Company's aaeson last evening at His Majesty's Theatre, presented "something different" with succesa. Though Mr Robert Roberts and Miss Arline Patersoii provided the cream of the entertainment, the unusually humorous company were versatile and far from cut to pattern, while the staging of the sketches was original and artistic, and the shapely ballet danced with verve and rhythm. "Southern Harmony," featuring "Caroline," by Maurice Jaffey and William Jones, was a fine tenor and baritone blend. Robert Koberts, assisted by Maurice Jaffey and George Edwards, gave an entirely new brand oE Jewish humour. Wellington audiences will appreciate the 'tram question," in which Molly Hughes and Juno Mills expose the wiles of ladies in search of a seat. A pretty scena, with nymph-like dancers in a garden setting, formed a ■ pleasing background for May Webster, whoso sympathetic mezzosoprano has richness and charm. Nick Morton, talfcatively tuneful, was both grave and gay. Will Gilbert in eccentric comedy, foiled at whiles by Maurice Jafiey struck quite a new note, while Robert Koberts in "It's a Man" gave both sides ofun old question with equal pathos and conviction. One of the delights of the evening was the tumbling of a troupe of juvenile acrobats, "The Eleven Rascals," whose pyramid work was wonderfulj Miss Arlme Paterson will prove a favourite, a dainty dancer she shows-individuality i"r, lV dlaloguo work w'tlv Robert Roberts. Ihe Long and the Short of It" was their star item, but they worked well together in numerous sketches and dancing hits including "Gipsyland" arid' "Redskin Revels. Love," depicting the divine passion m many guises, from motherhood to the miser; "The Chauffeur," in which an applicant for that position takes the lady, of the house at her word," and "The btreet Singer," with a grim touch of. humour, n ]] crisply drive their points home, llio programme concluded with "The Movie Ball," in which outstanding costumes are Eileen Moran, "The White m-if- r ' rMolly Hughes, as.
