HOSPITAL LEVIES
COUNTIES PROTEST

V/ANGANUI, 13th June. A protest again the heavy burden of hospital levy borne by the country districts in comparison with towns was made by the Waitotara' County Council meeting to-day. The chairman said that as a result of a meeting of thr Counties' Executive recently a strong deputation would wait on the Minister of Healrh, tho Hon. J. A. Young. The Farmers' Union had also beer, asked to join The chairman said that the County Councils were agreed that their share of the upkeep of the AVanganui Hospital was far too great in comparison with the city. Every other hospital in New Zealand was in more or less the same position. It was costing the people of' the Waitotara County in the vicinity of £1 per head, and the Wanganui County £5 or £6 for every, patient that went into tho hospital from the county. The city put in ten.
