(Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, 11th June. The weather was fine but cold for' the Ashburton Trotting Club's Meeting, which attracted a very large attendance. The totalisator handled £18,586, against £18,----920 last year. The fields were much above the average in size, and there was -some good racing. The Ashburton County Handicap was an exceptionally fine contest; the Sapling Stakes was also an interesting race, though Euawah always looked a winner over the last half-mile.

Two furlongs further on Bingen Wilkes broke, Huon Dillon and lone going on from Direct Wave and No Feur. Six furlongs from home No Fear joined the two leaders, with Direct Wave handy, and Locanda's General moving up. Racing round the home turn Loeanda's General ran to the front, with Huon Dillon and No. Fear next, while Helen and Bay Nut were .not far away. Helen was in front a furlong ■■ from the post, and she won by a good length from Bay Nut, who got up in time to beat Locanda's General by half a length. Slump and Joan Dillon were next.

The winner was allowed to pay a good price, probably as a result of several failures. ' - '
