BULLER BEATEN BY TWO GOALS

WESTPORT, 11th June. 'The weather for the Buller-Cauada match to-day was cold and showery, and the field was in n bad condition. Nevertheless both teams played n hard, scientific game, giving a good exhibition of Soccer. Canada won by two goals to nil. At the outset Canada attacked, and within ten minates of tho commencement of play Gibson shot a goal. Canada 1, Buller 0. Through obstruction by Canada, Buller'a goalie put Buller on the attack, and Newman, after good play, had a shot which went wide. A free-kick to Bulier put them on tho offensive, but Canada soon carried play back to Buller's territory. Chapman, for Buller, carried play to Canada's e_nd, but it was soon returned, Canada setting up a hot attack. Archibald, Buller's goalie, who was playing well, saved cleverly. Canada at this stage was pressing Buller. Gibson was injured nnil carried off. A minute or two later, however, he returned to the field rhe visitors' goal was threatened, but lait gave relief. Shortly before hall-time, by brilliant play, Gibson received the ball nnd placed it in the net. Half-time sounded with the score: Canada 2, Bnller 0 On the resumption of play the Canadians attacked strongly, but Archibuld saved well. Play oscillated up and down the neld for some time, both sides Iryinir hard to score, but the defence was too sound. The local team continued to nre«? but unfinished play spoilt a Koo 'j opportunity. A goal again looked likclv but Newman was well stopped. Archibald again prevented the visitors from scorhi"from a free-kick. Buller rushed play U p°neld, but Canada returned, and play ended with score still: Canada 2, Buller 0.
