SWIFTS OUTCLASSED.
Swifts entered the Chatham Cup competition in a sporting spirit, and played their gam^ against V.M.C.A. at Kclburn Park in just that spirit. They were outclassed in all branches of the play, but stuck to a pretty well hopeless tank, breaking away as fresh as ever in spite of the s^ore piled up against them, S-0. Their wing men, K.lliott and Hertford, showed speed, and' placed the ball neatly to the centre, but M'Girr and Prince ,were too good for them, and what they allowed past Ben Hoy. handled well. Swifts' great chance of opening a score was given by a penalty kick award, but the bull was lifted over the bar by BenUey, and the resulting corner brought nothing. Ballard, Rigby, Trot, and Worth contributed to Young Men's high score. It was altogether a one-sided game, but Swifts never lost heart. Mr. K. Watts refcreed.
