MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police cases in the Magistrate's Court on Saturday were dealt witu by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M.
The unlawful possession of an automatic pistol was admitted by Ernest Wilfred M'Clure, a seaman, aged 24. He said that he had obtained it from some person unknown while he was in a drunken condition in an Auckland hotel. His boat, the Canadian Pioneer, was sailing for the South in a- few days. The Magistrate ordered the forfeiture of the weapon and said the ease would be met if the defendant paid the costs.
Robert Moore, a seaman, who was ejected twice iv a drunken state from the Pier Hotel, in which he had been begging beer and cigarettes, protested violently the third time and struck the licensee's son, Robert Beryman. Mr. Salmon fined him £2, in default 14 days' imprisonment, for the assault, and convicted and discharged him for drunkenness.
Robert Henderson, an inmate of the Ohira Home, aged 05, who admitted drunkenness and having cast offensive matter, was convicted and discharged on botli charges. The Magistrate warned him that if he repeated the oifenees he would be sent to gaol. One first offender for drunkenness was fined 10s, the amount of his bail.
