WATERSIDE ACCIDENT

JUDGMENT FOR SHIPPING

; The case in which Charles Phillips, a watersiderj claimed £300 damages, and £30 medical expenses, from the New Zealand Shipping Company, arising out of an accident on the wharf caused through a chute breaking, was concluded, in the Supreme Court to-day before Mr. Justice Keed.

His Honour said that he concluded that the defect in the chute, jot which the plaintiff complained, was probably of a progressive nature arising during the day in which the chute was used. He accepted the evidence that the company had carried out a proper inspection pi the. plant before, it -was used, and said they had taken reasonable precautions to ensure its safety.
