TRAVELLING HEALTH CENTRE

The maternal and baby welfare section of the Health Department's car on the Better Farming Train in Australia attracted so much attention during its first tour that the Department has arranged for a whole car to be devoted to this subject on the forthcoming and future tours. The car which has been suitably equipped for this purpose, so that mothers will be able to listen in comfort to the sister lecturing on mothercraft, constitutes practically a travelling baby health centre. The lectures and demonstrations to be given cover ante-natal and postnatal care of mothers, breast-feeding of infants, preparation of food, bathing and general care of infants, weaning of babies, and care of children's teeth. The sister-in-charge is a woman of sound practical training and wide experience. For those who require individual advice a small room has been provided, where mothers may interview the sister privately.
