"ST. PAUL."

At the Town Hall on Saturday evening the Royal Wellington Choral Union will open its twenty-third season with the production of Mendelssohn's "St. Paul," under the conductorship of Mr. Temple White. This will be the first appearance .of the Choral Union in this work. The soloists engaged are: Soprano, Miss Naomi Whalley (Palmerston North); contralto, Miss Nora Greene; tenor, Mr. Edwin Dennis; and baritone, Mr. William Watters (of Palmerston North). The final rehearsal will be held in the Town Hall to-night at 7.45 sharp. The box plan can be inspected at The Bristol. A supply of 2s tickets will be on sale at the box office on Saturday morning.

QUEEN'S THEATRE. "Love 'Em and Leave 'Em," featuring Louise Brooks, Evelyn Brooks, and Lav£ rence Gray, is the principal feature at the Queen s Theatre. The comedy-romance of «. flirt, it is an entertaining picture full of clever comedy and delightful romance well acted by a capable cast. The second feature shows Kenneth Harlan and Viola Dana A story of a young man's attempt to clean-up a lumber camp the ''Ice Flood is full of stirring adventures. Excellent incidental music is provided by the orchestra. ' "Desert Valley," starring Buck Jones commences to-morrow at the matinee at the Queen's, showing thereafter nightly at 8 o clock. Comedy, adventure and suspense abound in this fine picture The story deals with the feud of cattlemen over water rights. Buck plays the part of an irrepresible cowboy, who has a knack for getting into trouble over cither people's troubles. Virginia Brown Faire is the girl in the case, and Malcolm Waite the ruthless owner of the water rights. Hard riding, spectacular fighting, and comedy of a rare order make this one of the best westerns seen locally in some time. It is an adaptation of the famous romance by Jackson Gregory.
