THE TRANSFER QUEStION

The Wellington League Football Management Committco meeting this week was presided over by Mr. Corcoran. Others present were:—Messrs. Hunt, AVithoy, Buckland, Rosanowski, Boycl, M'Handell, Wrack, Mansell, Simpson, and-Desmond' (hon. secretary). Spirited discussion took place on the question of transfers of players. In the matter of the proposed addition to clause 39 of tho New Zealand Rugby League which- reads, "No affiliated league, district league, or club shall compensate any ether affiliated league, district league, or club, for the transfer of any player," it was decided that the Wellington delegates bo instructed to Vote against the proposal. Mr. Wrack contended that the payment of transfer fees was detrimental to the League game, aa clubs, stronger financially could secure the better players and make games one-sided, and so tend to destroy tho sporting spirit, Mr. William Corcoran was elected sola selector. He said.that his interest lay in no club in particular, but in the code in general and that any player selected by him for representative honours would get his place strictly on playing merit and team spirit. Permission was granted for the playing of a match to-morrow morning botween Albion and a combined North and Petone team, subject to tho approval of a. selected member of the committee who would inspect tho ground.

In the matter of the Aird Cup recent-, ly donatod by Mr. Aird, for presentation to tho winners of a "knock out" competition, it was decided to have the trophy suitably inscribed.

A report was received from Mr. M'Eandall re the securing of dressing shed for League Park. Mr. M'Eandall stated that he had been successful in securing the shed, and it was decided to remove and re-erect it as early as possible.

It wa s stated that the dearth of referees was now overcome,-as sufficient volunteers had come forward.

A Tree exhibition of architectural drawings will be opened this oven ing in the New Zealand Academy of Fine -Arts Buildinjr, YV'hitmore street. It is hoped that the display, which is held under the auspices of the Wellington branch of the N.Z.1.A., will be well patronised, for it comprises examples of students' work of all grades in the five years' course at the School of the. Architectural Association (Inc.), London.
