CAPTURE AFTER EXCITING

CHASE

After an exciting chase, an alleged motorcar thief was captured and arrested in Adelaide road last night. A two-seater roadster had been taken from Ross street, Kilbirnic, and a friend of the owner saw it being driven in Courtenay place at about 10.20 p.m. Hailing a passing motorist, to whom he explained the position, he set out in pursuit. Half-way up Adelaide road two cars collided and the pursuing car was damaged to the extent of about £35. The occupant of the stolen car jumped out and made off,, followed ,by a crowd, who joined in the chase. The oapture was made by the owner of the pursuing car, and the offender was handed over to the police. A youth of 16% years, he appeared before Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate s Court to-day, charged with having converted to his own use, but not so as to be guilty of theft, a motor-car worth £395, the property o£ Sydney Dent On the application of Mr. P. J. O'Regan, who appeared for the accused, the youth was remanded to appear in the Juvenile Court this afternoon.
