AUCKLAND, This Day. The weather was fine for the'final gallops at EHerslie this morning, and fast work was done oh No. 1 grass, while hurdles were erected on-the outside of the course proper. The steeplechase course, including the hill, was also open. The going was fairly heavy. Before breakfast-Comet King covered ! seven furlongs in Imm 44i2-Ssee. THE JUMPEES. Rangitahi beat Anchor over four hurdles on the course proper, and was going well at the finish. Whetuhine and Mangani set out for a similar task, Mangant falling at the second hurdle. Whetuhine gave a fair display. ' Kaiti, Hike, and Elmestra went ovor four hurdles on tho courso proper. Kaiti and Hike pleased. Prince Eufub gave a good display ovor. the fences on the flat, jumping well throughout. Black Cruiser, Mount Marta. ,:nd Tall Timber started off ovor four hurdles on tho courso proper. .Tall Timber fell at the second hurdlb. Black Cruiser finished iv front of Mount Marta, with; Karam lftt t- J M Timbor was lat<* sent over the hurdles alone, and got round Stixoly* Scot Free pleased better than Sea Comet m a similar task. Bretland and Eamblin' Kid jumped four schooling hurdles in the centre, giving a fair exhibition.' Blue Sky and Glenotus jumped two hurdles m the centre, and afterwards did a round on the No. 1 grass track m company with Clockwork, Blue Sky finishing in front. Tho timo was 2min ysec. Waioeka Jack set out for a round ovor the steeplechase course, including the hill, and got round, safely, though inclined to screw at his fences. Oniahu and Comical set out- on a Jimilar mission, Comical falling at the fence "by the five-furlong post. Omahu completed his task in good style. Peter Maxwell, Kendal, and Kayo were also sent over the big steeples. Kayo lost his rider at the fence which brought Comical to grief. Peter Maxwell finished weir in front of Kendal.
