QUESTION
A claim for £2000 damages for alleged libel was heard by Mr. Justice MacGregor and a jury in the Supreme Court to-day. ■■> ' The plaintiff was Ada Frances Walker, wife of Norman Eric Walker, marine engineer, of Vivian . street. . The defendants . were Andrew Phillips, licensee of the Royal Hotel, Westport, and Olive Phillips, his wife, sued in respect of her separate estate. . \ The libel alleged was contained in letters, which Mrs. Walker contended reflected on her moral character, ancl which, she alleged, were written bY Olive Phillips. The defence was a general 1 denial. Mr. P. W. 1 Jackson appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. H. F. O'Leary for the defendant. , % . :-. • M>.
