DISQUIETING STATE

DUNEDIN, This Day. According to the annual report of the Otago Education Board the inspectors state that the teachers' annual examination reports reveal rather a disquieting state with regard to retardation. In a roll of 21,284 pupils, there are 6105, or 28.7 per cent., retarded The inspectors propose to ask the head teachers where there is a large amount of retardation to formulate definite plans for the treatment of retarded pupils.
