. .-NELSQ]* 28th May. Owing to the sudden, death of Mr.' B. li. Gamboni, all football, and hockey matches scheduled for this afternoon were cancelled. Mr. Gamboni, who was president of the Nelson District Cricket Association, and a vice-president of the Nelson City Association, took great interest in tootball and other sports, had a seizure whilst attending a meeting of the Nelson i Kugby Union as delegate, and died shortly afterwards. At the request of the committee of the Nelson Rugby Union the members of the Keferees Association attended a meeting of the former, when the question of a reconstruction of the Referees' Association was discussed. Attending members of the latter body very strongly protested against the indictments placed upon them ; and withdraw unanimously from the meeting, which ended without any definite action being taken by the committee of the union.
