PETONE DEFEATED.

Petone, after three successive wins, suf- £ r™ defeat at the hands of V.M.C.A. at Uutt Recreation Ground. The ground was rather soft, and considerably upset the speed of both teams, but despite this the visiting forward, were too good for the Petone men, and by half-time the score stood at-3-1 to V.M.C.A., whose scorers were Fergusson (2) and Steptoe. The city team were quickly in their stride again in the second half, and further increased their lead, the final tally being 5 $£fn°A 2 fn favour of Y-M.C.A. 'The V.M.C.A. scorers in this spell were Fer--B"sson and Mead. The game was refereed by Mr. W. A. Scott. WESLEY DEFEAT HUIA. Although Wesley compiled rather a big score against,Huia at Newtown Park, this proved no indication a. to the state of the game. The game went to Wesley owing to the superior combination of their forward*, in which respect Huia were sad)^ lacking. Wesley increased their lead in the second spell, and the game finished 10-2 in their favour. The other scorers were Simpson one more, and Hay (2) for Wellington, and M'Gavin, Lewer .and. Hewitt for Karori. Karori were handicapped m being one man short, but ther took matters into their own hands in the second spell, however, and scored SH'^c mea without Wellington scoring.
