The reverse had been the case, and in many quarters it was thought advisable to stop the games altogether. It was realised that those competing were so anxious to win the prizes, and not too particular how w ♦ w?' *"?* th «y had. forgotten iT*l° ' Pa y the game," with the resuit that much bad feeling had been engendered, and the peoples, instead of being.drawn closer together, had become ™£f er + apart They h d little to expect m the way of good fellowship from In» n ff eat ?^ ie Ga^s, which Were inangnrated under what was thought to be such happy auspices. Sport, unless characterised by the truest conception of sportsmanship and consideratioa for.others, was not sport at all. There was o^nly one way, and that was to.- play the game "by showing tho fullest consideration for the opposing side, or, in other words, doing to others what yon would like them to do to you the great lesson Christ taught.
