The report for the year/ showed that the usual services of the society had been well maintained at all institutions in the Wellington district, where ex-service men were under treatment. 'Members had visited the several hospitals distributing comforts in the form of fruit, cake, sweets, flowers, preserves, tobacco, cigarettes, etc., among the men, and. by arrangement with the newsagents, the latest magazines and periodicals had been made available. In addition, many gifts of books had been received and handed on to the hospitals for circulation. In fine weather picnic outings had been arranged, and were widely participated in aiid enjoyed. Everything had been done in maintaining sound, healthful recreation in the form of concerts, card and billiard tournaments, and the-latest picture programmes had also been screened. At Christmas time, special thought was given to the men in hospital, extra sums beinf; voted to supplement the usual scale of diet and a gift parcel was forwarded to each man. In the "Mowai" Home, there had been an average of 23 patients receiving treatment during-the year. This institution serves as a'home for men suffering more or less permanent disability as « result of war, and patients are admitted on the recommendation of the medical officer in charge of treatment, Pensions Department. Patients had been given outings to race meetings, athletic meetings, and various entertainments, and a number of fine concert: and a weekly cinema: programme had also been provided 'for the. men: for 'the picture programmes they were indebted to the Australasia films, -and thanks were also due to Mr. Jackson, who had regularly supplied music at each performance. The concerts had been given by 'the Commercial Travellers' Choir and Mr. Temple White and his pupils. At Fukeora Sanatorium the Waipukurau Committee, with Mrs. Rice at president, had given close attention to the needs of-the institution, and in iU work had had the close co-operation from the sub-centres
