A statement that tho Supreme Court was anxious to help farmers who hud been unfortunate in thoir farming operations was made at tho Supreme Court on Saturday by Mr. Justice Alpers. An application' for discharge from bankruptcy was made by William Honry Brown (Mr. J. A-r Grant), service car driver, and lately a farmer at Aokauterc. . ' 1 ■ Mr. A. M. Onglcy opposed the application on behalf of the D.O.A. arid S. R. Lancaster, Estate,, the secured creditor.,'. ' v : - Mr. Ongley stated that petitioner had found it impossible to carry on the farm at Aoknutcre, .'and had simply sat there tight, refusing to move off until the trustees in the Lancaster Estate mado him bankrupt. Even then he still carried on for about twelve months grazing, not his own stock, but his brother’s. The trustees opposed tho discharge uiftil bankrupt at least paid something for that grazing. His Honour remarked that the Court was always anxious to relievo bankrupts who had been unfortunate, and where men bought land in the time of the boom had found themsolvcs unable to carry on they got their discharge very readily, i The Court realised that in the present case Brown was unfortunate. A discharge would bo granted provided bankrupt consented to a judgment being entered against him for £75 for the grazing mentioried by Mr Onglcy. • v ;
