I SATURDAY’S GAMES
Two senior League football games were played at Pefone on Saturday afternoon, ietone North defeating Newtown by 10 points to 3, and Albion defeating Hutt bv 6 points to 3. , , . Tu .the Petone North-Newtown game Scoi l nige opened the home team's account with a penalty goal, following which smart following up by Desmond resulted in O Grady scoring a try for Newtown. 3-2 Newtown held out until Scorringe beat the opposition to score a try, which he converted. 7-3. In the second spell passing bouts by the home team resulted in Scorringe scoring another tty, making the final score Petone North 10, Newtown 3. Mr. Duncan was the referee. Give-and-take play was the order in the early stages of the Albion-Hutt. game. M Gibbon scored AJbmn’s first: try, after which Hutt indulged m some good dribbling rushes. These were countered by passing bouts by Albion. Hutt’s efforts were eventually rewarded when G. Love scored from a scramble. 3-3. Albion soon regained the lead, Murdock making a fine run to score. In the closing stages Albions defence was tested, .nd it proved sound. The game ended Albion 6, Hutt,3. Mi. House was the referee.
