SUGAR LANDS FLOODED

Engineers and relief workers declare that the crevasse is already 150 feet wide, and the levee gradually cracking eastward, dooming the so-called "Sugar Bowl" lands of Louisiana, where 150,000 people live* and property worth over tea million, | dollars lies in tht, peth of the flood. | The pent-up waters are alsd stream, ing through a series of .crevasses between Cottonport and Bordelonville ranging in width from 20ft to 700 ft at j Moreauville, midway.. .between^ The small town of Cottonport is under water, and so is'Bordelonville," No loss of lifers expected. _ Meantime, reports from the. Tensa« Basm have revealed a Berious refuge* problem throughout the Louisiana bottom lands. A wireless message from Jonesville stated that the water there had risen thirteen inches in the last twenty-four hours. Refugees have been found on rafts, and thirty men on small boats. It is reported that near Acme a large number of women and children are on flat boats. They are said to be without food. Finally they were rescued. A member of the Governor s staff immediately notified the Red Cross of the urgent need for food and tents in the flooded parishes.
