THREE 'PLANES READY
RACE ACROSS ATLANTIC
TWO MAY START TO-DAY
(United Press ' Association.—Copyright) NEW YOEK, 12th May. At the first report of favourable weather, it is expected that' thrco 'planes now at the Curtis-Eoosovelt fields will raco from Now York to Paris simultaneously. The fate of Nungosser and Coli has acted as a stimulus rather than a deterrent to aviators, who are highly nervous lest one of their number should take off first.
Lindberth arrived to-night frbm St. Louis, having established a record nonstop flight for a lono pilot, averaging 2.23 miles a minuto. He looms as a dangerous rival. Byrd, in his Fokker 'plane, arrived- at nearly the same time. The three camps aro closely guarded, and mechanicians aro working feverishly to tuno tho 'planes to tho highest pitch of efficiency.
Chamborlain and Bertraud have postponed their flight till Saturday morning, o\v,ing to squally weather in tho North Atlantic.
