CONTROVERSY IN FRANCE

The Chamber of Deputies began * debate on the now Customs tariff which is arousing a fierce controversy in view of the possible effect on the already high cost of living. The BUI greatly increases the tariffs against British boots and ahoei, textiles, toflhu machinery, and, chemicals, ' ■'^Z^Z.
