QUEEN'S THEATRE.
■ Whispering Wires," which opened at the Queen's Theatre last night, is a story filled with excitement and tempered with laughter. Anita Stewart plays the part of Doris Stockbridge, and after her uncle has been mysteriously killed "whispering" information that the same was to happen to her within an hour. The murderer has a secret tunnel and room under the Stockbridge mansion, and it is here that he invents a telephone receiver which causes the murder of Doris Stockbridge's uncle annular death also being planned for her' When the telephone rings Doris answers' and she is then nearer to death than she really understands, but the quick action ot her sweetheart, Edmund Burns, saves her. The two comedians who are assistant detectives are Arthur Housnian and Mark twain, and together they create most of the fun m the film. Supporting this picture is a gazette showing Mr. and Mrs Stanley ■ Bruce on their return from the Imperial Conference,- and also showiimMr. Bruce placing, a wreath on the Unknown Soldier's grave while in London A comedy is also included on the programme while appropriate incidental music is played by the Queen's Select Orchestra the whole making an excellent programme!
