Mutton, wether and maiden ewe,light GHd per lb; wether and maiden ewe heavy 4%d per lb; owe, light 4 3-8 d per lb; ewe, heavy 4 l-8d per lb. Better market.
The Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received the following advice from its London office under date 29th April:—Frozen meat: The market for wether mutton is weaker for heavyweights, lightweights remain steady. Owing to short supplies of ewes the market has improved. The market for lamb has improved, ani the present demand is expected to continue. Wethers, light 5%d to 7d per lb, heavy 3%d to 4%d; ewes, 3d to 4%d; lambs, 2's, 8d to 9%d, B'B, BHd to B%d, 4's, 7%' d to S%d; lambs, seconds Sd to BJ/2d.8 J/2d.
