MINIATURE RIFLES
ANNUAL MEETING N.Z.M.R.A.
The annual general meeting of the New Zealand, Miniature Bifle Association was held on Saturday afternoon at the V.M.C.A. rooms in Willis street. The association is now in its third yeaT, being originally formed in Christchurch, and the meeting on Saturday was the first held in Wellington, the two previous annual iheetings having been held in Christehurch; The President, Mr. W. & Whartony and Secretary, Mr. A. Tongue, both attended from Christchurch, arid the former occupied the chair. • .
Delegates were' present from the following elubsi-^-fßrooklyn, Railway, South, Harbour Board, Public Service, Port Nichoistih, arid several by proxy from various clubs in Canterbury. The annual report and balance-sheet was read arid adopted. The association is in a sound financial postion. It was decided to hold the next annual meeting in Christehurch to" take place in.February, 1928. After The meeting the visitors were shown Ov<*r the South Club'p range and the • harboilr Board's range; the latter corning iiv'ftii! praise from the president and secretary' dh account of the up-to-date facilities available for shooting. '
The visitors were entertained to high tea at Messrs; Gamble and Creeds prior to their departure. Several, toasts were horiourfid. Mr. J. Graham^ president oi tlie Wellington M;R.A. proposed that of the' visiting president and secrotary, and in a few well-chosen words expressed pleasure at having these two gentlemen in Wellington, as they wero really tho prime movers in the formation of the N.Z.M.R.A.
Messrs. Wharton aiid Tongue suitably replied.
The toast of the ladies was enthusiastically honoured, and pleasure was expressed at having Mrsi Tonguo present ffoin OliristeJ.itreh, and Mcsdamcs
.Uller (Petone Ladies' Club)mid Nicholas (Hutt Valley Ladies' Club). The delogrates present expressed their intention of attending the next annual meeting in the South, and the party accompanied the president to the Ferry Wharf to bid him *'au Tevoir."
The afternodn and evening was voted the most enjoyable ever spent ,by miniature enthusiasts since its inception. It will be the means of giving a docided impetus to shooting in Wellington.
