MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police cases at tho Magistrate's Court ycatorday were dealt with by Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M. For his sixth offence of drunkenness, John Williams (56) was committeed to Roto Roa Island for a period of twelve months. Sydney Taylor, a labourer, aged 30, who admitted casting offensive matter on the street, was fined £3, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. He was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. Two first-offending inebriates, who did not appear, wero each fined 10s, the amount of their bail. Another, who appeared in Court, was convicted and discharged. Charged with the theft of a suitcase and eighteen tins of cleanser, valued at £2 11s, the property of Horace Bert Rose, Percy William Roy, a butcher,aged 26, was remanded to Friday next. Police cases 'in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr. E. Pago, S.M. For her fourth offence of drunkenness, Florence Emma Emeny, aged 56, was fined £1, in default seven days' 'imprisonment. Charged with having wilfully damaged a plate glass window worth £.40, the property of Herbert John Harrop, Arthur George M'Guinness, aged 53, was remanded to appear next Tuesday. Second offenders for drunkenness, Richard Harris and Owen Bullock, wore each fined £1 in the Mount Cook Police Court yesterday. John Crowley, another socond offender, was fined 10s. For his third offence of drunkenness, Neil Livingstone, aged 43, was fined 10s by Mr. T. Coltmau, J.P., in the Mount Cook Police Court to-day. Before Mr. J. Burn, J.P., at the Petone Magistrate 'a Court to-day, a first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged, on tho condition that he left the town.
