MARKETING BUTTER

THE CANADIAN OUTPUT MOVE FOR AN. ENTENTE (From Oir Own Correspondent.) VANCOUVER, Hth. February. A proposal that an entente be made between Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, for the purpose of ensuring to each the fullest possible share of the supply of butter to Great Britain, met with general .support at the annual congress of the Canadian Producers' Association held at Winnipeg. It was pointed out that Australia, New Zealand, and Argentine, iii the Southern Hemisphere, produced butter at the opposite period to Canada, «nd that mutual interest would not conflict in any pact or agreement between them. With the exception of Denmark, which supplied Britain weekly throughout the year, butter production In all countries is seasonal. Canadian butter, more especially that of Alberta and British Columbia, more nearly approaches New Zealand butter, and to a certain extent Australian. Canada produces its "flush" at the time when the Australian and New Zealand on the British market is at an end. ' A delegate who has a wide Canadian reputation on marketing urged that the Dominion get into a position of co-opera-tion with Australia and New Zealand, as all three supplied the British market with butter m 581b boxes. Butter from the Southern Dominions arrives in Eurone from November to June.- For example there arrived in Great Britain 2,150,000 boxes of New Zealand butter last season, of which 1,840,000 boxes reached the British market m the period between November and June. The plea was advanced that it would be good policy to" get established in Britain as guaranteeing supplies of Lmpire-produced butter throughout.the year and ultimately to secure the tullest possible share of the market
