WAR GRAVES

NEAR EAST PILGRIMAGE ST. BARNABAS FUND (From Our Own Csrr«r C ni2nt.) LONDON, 2Gth January. A pilgrimage to wav graves and battlefields in the areas of Palestine and Egypt has been arranged for next April and May by the St. Barnabas Pilgrimage Fund. It is principally intend od for those who wlfeh to visit war give's and battlefields, but a-number of cabins will be available for those desiring to visit ."erusalem and other places of interest in.the Mediterranean. The Stella * 'Italia, of . the Cosulich Line, has been .chartered. She proved to be an ideal vessel for the Gallipoli-Salon^ ika pilgrimage last summer. A definite itinerary will be issued as soon as the destinations of applicants are known, but in any case at least two days will be spent at Alexandria (for Cairo, etc.), and four days at Haifa or other Palestine port (for '.Jerusalem,"* Bethlehem, etc.). The pilgrimage will v take" 23 days,, The actual cruiso will take 21 days. The departure date from London will be 27th April, and the ports of call will be Marseilles, Malta, Alexandria, 'and Haifa. 'The vessel will leave Larnaka on 11th May, calling at Ehodes, Candia, Naples, and Marseilles; and London xn'A be reached on 19th May. A certain number of cabins will be reserved fo. soldiers ,who fought. in Egypt and Palestine. They will re- v ceive the same consideration as the War Graves Pilgrims. It is hoped that lectures will be given on the Palestine and Egyptian campaign. A memorial service will take place in the Jerusalem military cemetery, and passengers will j also be able to witness the unveiling of the memorial to the missing in that cemetery. . .' . The St. Barnabas hostels have again. ' made arrangements to place wreaths on war graves and memorials for relatives of our soldier dead, especially for those who live" in distant,parts of the Empire. The wreaths will be blessed in one of j the military cemeteries in France, and a photograph of the ceremony will be se;it to all concerned.
