For the commencement of the final series of senior games the ' conditions oil Saturday were again favourable, and further good performances with the bat were recorded, while in some cases the bowlers did well.' Old Boys, weakened by the absence of some of their leading players, made only a moderate showing against Wellington at the Basin Reserve. Plant bowled with success for Wellington. On the same ground V.M.C.A. scored solidly against Institute, who had Massey back again to assist in the bowling. V.M.C.A fared badly for a start, but H. Murphy, White, and. Turner, greatly improved the position by dealing severely with the bowhng. . Murphy's good form in previous matches was maintained, and this time the batsman reached the century Fetone scored well against Thorndon at Tetone, H. E. Nicholls scoring his second century of the season for the home team, and Lapstick giving valuable help. Midland were without the two Hutchings for their match with Hutt, and, with most of the.others going cheaply, the side appeared to be in a bad way. Turvey however rose to; the occasion, and, giving a real taste of his quality as a batsman, he scored + a splendid century, His total being more than^ double that of the other ten players.
