PERSONAL MATTERS
Liouten.int-Colonel F. Symon, Director of Artillery, returned to Wellington from the South by the Maori this morning. The Bench of the Court of Appeal, which will sit on Monday, will be comprised of their Honours the Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Herdman, Mr. Justice Eeed, Mr. Justice Adams, and Mr. Justice Ostler. A presentation was made to Mr. S. J. Sands, who has severed his connection with the firm of Teagle, Smith, and Co. The gift was a gold-mounted pocket wallet. Mr. Len Teagle and Mr. Jackson spoke on behalf of the firm, and expressed good wishes to Mr. Sands. Mr. C. P. Hainsworth, who was general manager of the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition, has just been appointed manager and organiser of the British North-East Coast Exhibition, which will be held at Newcastle in 1928.
The death occurred at Hawera this week of Mr. James G. MacEae, who served with distinction in the First Gordon Highlanders in India and South Africa. He came to New Zealand eighteen years ago, and after residing on the West Coast for a time came to Wellington and joined the permanent staff of the Defence Department as sergeantmajor, lie resigned about seven years ago, and went into business. The late Mr. MacEae leaves a widow and three children.
