The fuselage was buried in sand, and the engine was a hundred yards distant. It is surmised that the airmen descended into the sea as the result of a defect, and when they endeavoured to land crashed. The fate of tho crew is unknown.

Major Larra Borgcs, an Uruguayan aviator, left Pisa about a fortnight ago to fly to South America along the route taken by de Pinedo. He had several companions with him.
