LATE PARRY THOMAS
TRIBUTE FROM SEGRAVE
ONLY MAN WHO BUILT AND DROVE HIS OWN CAR (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, 4th March. Major H. 0. D. Seagrave, who is traveling in the Berengaria to the United States to attempt a speed of 200 miles an hour on the Florida sands in his 1000 horse power Sunbeam car, has wirelessed his appreciation of the late J. H. Parry Thomas, who was killed yesterday, whilst making a speed record and Pendine. Major Seagrave says that Parry Thomas was one of the greatest exponents of motor racing —a quiet, unassuming, and brilliantly clever engineer and the only man in the motor-racing world who both designed and drove his own car. The newspapers state that motor racing is not only a sport, but a science from which manufacturers of ordinary cars receive valuable data on design and metallurgy.
