MANAGER'S REPORT

TAKEN' IX COMMITTEE

AUCKLAND, This Day. The report of one of the managers of the Isew Zealand Leagu: football team (Mr. G. H. Ponder) was presented. atm meeting of the Xew Zealand LeagW iootbn!! Council on Wednesday. After some discussion it was decided to tako the report in .oinmittee. Mr. J Carlaw (Auckland) presided. Some opposi~-on was shown to' the proposal to take the report in commit, tee, and a motion was moved by Messrs. E. Stallworthy (Auckland) and T Tuohey (Wellington) that the report be taken m open meeting. Mr. Ponder at once made au emphatic objection. He refused to read the report in «pen meeting and threatened to tear it up unless it iveretakea m committee.

An amendment was then moved by Messrs. 11. Pollock (Timaru) and C A' Snedden (Auckland), that the report be taken in committee.

Mr. Tuohey at once intimated that if the amendment were carried he would, leave the meeting because he felt that they owed a duty to the public. They kept the game going and should be a<v quamted with all facts. .
