Senator Ileffin, who recently haß been attacking Roman Catholics, to-day in tho Senato chargod tho British Ambassador, Sir Esnio Howard, with conniving with tho Knights of Columbus and priests of tho Roman Catholic Church to forco the United States to war with Moxico, and also with endeavouring, in conjunction with the Roman Catholic Church, to forco Britain to recognise tho Roman Catholic regime of Diaz in Nicaragua. Britain had sent v Roman Catholic Ambassador to ; tho United States, indicating that Britain had fallen under the domination of the Roman Catholic Church. Senator King immediately roso and said that Sir Esmo Howard was a man of the highest attainments and fino intelligence, and was an honour as a diplomat to his country's service. "I cannot permit to go unquestioned' the charge that he would do anything derogatory to his country or to tho United btates. His honuor should not bo impugned or questioned."
