THE WEATHER

A SUDDEN STORM

The passing southwards of an Antarctic disturbance yesterday accounted for a sudden and unpleasant change in the weather. Strong westerly winds gave place to southerlies, and heavy rain fell in most parts of the Dominion, Wellington receiving nearly oie inch (9jL points). This morning, however, saw a general improvement in the weather conditions, and the barometer is expected to rise everywhere. Cool and changeable weather may be expected, with a cold night generally.
