COMMUNITY SINGING
REVIVAL AT NEWTOWN PARK
Whether community singing will ever again have any sustained vogue in lington no' man or woman can foretell accurately, but it is anticipated that there will be a strong revival at Nowtown Park on [Thursday evening next, and following nights, during the grand finale of the Searchlight Tattoo. Tho combined choir of three hundred voices will sing ''Onward, Christian Soldiers" and the first:two verses of "Abide With Me."' The public are specially requested to sing the last two verses of the famous hymn, which is a favourite throughout' the Englishspeaking world:— I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to 'bless, Ills have no weight, ■ and tears no bitterness. Where is Death's sting? Where, Grave, • thy victory? I triumph still, Thou abide with me. Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes, Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies; Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee, v In Life,'in Death, 0 Lord, abide with me. This dramatic finale^—an unforgettable expression of the spirit of service, as shown in a thousand years of Britain's history—will be described in to-morrow's "Post." ARRANGEMENTS FOR TRAFFIC. As Newtown Park will bo a Mecca for motors' during the Tattoo "season, special arrangements have .been made for the safe control of traffic. From 6 p.m. of 3rd, 4th, sth, and Bth March and from noon of 7th March ("Living Flag" day), the following regulations will, take effect: Mansfield street' will bo ' a one-way street, for traffic approaching the Park from the north (city), traffic returning ."by Roy and Daniell streets. Roy street will be a one-way connecting street for traffic from west to east, from Mansfield street to Daniell: street. Daniell street will be a one-way street for return traffic, from south to north. No vehieles'may be parked in Mansfield or Roy streets. . ■ Cars maybe parked in Russell terrace (there is an entrance to the Park off Russell terrace),- Wharepori :-stre-ct, Manchester street, Newtown avenue Normanby .street, Donald M'Lean street,' Rhodes street, Daniell street (facing north).
