AMERICAN EXPERT KILLED
(By-: Telegraph.—Press Association.) . "'•- ■•■■•. •: GISBOENE, This Day. Mr. A.^B.-Wheat, superintendent for the Taranaki Oil Co., was killed at Tokqmaru Bay last night by. a motorcar overturning. The' car went over a bank and. fell, about 20 feet. Mr. Wheat was an American, engaged in superintending the work at the,new bsre a few miles from Tokomaru Bay. Miss Kate l/re, who .was iv the car with Mr. Wheat, received minor: injuries and was.'admitted'to . the' Tepuia Hospital. Mr. Wheat was ■;ra.vcllingalong the. Beach road towardn. Waima, to see a Native dance. The front wheel ran into a depression in the road, causing the car to overturn an 1 pinning both occupants underneath, Mr. \Vheat died shortly after bei.ng extricated; The deceased, forme::ly superintendent of the oilfields work at Taranaki, had been in the "district for tbout a year. He was a married man and it is understood that his wifo and relatives are in California.
