FORTUNE "TELLER" FINED

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHEISTCHUECH, 9th Feb. Mabel Jennings appeared in the Magistrate's Court to-day on two charges of undertaking to tell fortunes. Counsel entered a plea of not guilty, but after the evidence had been heard withdrew the plea. The evidence disclosed that Jennings told a matron that she was going to be married on 2nd December next year and would live on the hills in Dunedin. To another matron tho accused forecasted, among other things, that she was going to lose her brooch soon. On one charge the accused was fined £2 and costs, and was convicted and ordered tor-pay costs on the second charge. An application for the suppression of the name was refused.
