A CHANGE COMING

CONDITIONS MORE UNSETTLED.

Though immediate weather prospects are uncertain, a change is probable. The atmospheric pressure has proved unsteady, falling in the north, and rising in the south. Warm and humid conditions have prevailed, cloudy at times with scattered showers. There have been local thunderstorms, one at 9 a.m. at Auckland to-day. About .4 a.m. to-day there was a heavy thunderstorm towards the east of Weljlihgton, which was intense over Eastbourne and Tiearer bays, waking residents, many of whom did not again get to sleep. No rain fell in Wellington itself, but was experienced in some o£ the suburbs. Winds have been moderate and variable. Conditions, says Mr. D. C. Bates, are becoming more unsettled, particularly in the north, where the barometer is likely to fall, further, but will probably rise further in the south. After twenty-four hoiii's a change may* be expected. Warm and humid conditions are forecasted, and the weather will be unsettled and cloudy, with rain following generally, and soon in the northern districts. Easterly winds are probable, increasing, and forecasted strong to gale. Moderate to' strong easterlies are forecasted elsewhere, which will veer shortly to the south-east.
