TRANSATLANTIC AIRMEN

(United Press Association. —Copyright.) WASHINGTON, Bth February. It is announced that Commander Byrd will attempt the New York-Paris flight, accompanied by Bennett. Commander Byrd plans to use a Fok-. leer 'plane, similar to that used in the Polar expedition. He hopes to take off in May.

A recent Washington message stated •hat preparations for a further attempt *.t an aeroplane flight from New York to Paris are now being made by three aviators.

Lieutenant Noel Davis, United States naval reservist, is the farthest advanced; he expects to make a flight in July or August next, and hopes to obtain an army bomber of the latest type.

Another entrant is Paul TaraßCou, the Frenchman, who is considering the utilisation of a specially designed 'plane, able to stand tho strain of a heavy load, particularly upon the takeoff.

Reno Fonck, whose first attempt last September ended in disaster, wiU, it is stated, try aj-ain, probably employing a machine built by the' same designer.

The successful aviator will obtain Eaymond Orteg's 25,000-dollar prize.
