SCENES AT OPORTO
STREETS FULL OF DEAD
CARMONA CARRIES ON
LONDON, Bth February. . The ".Daily Mail" says that an Englishman, a resident of Vigo, has arrived from Oporto and states that terrible scenes were enacted during the bombardment, in which aeroplanes participated. The streets were strewn with corpses. Many were killed and wounded during the Government cavalry's combats with the insurgents. The Dictator (General Carmona) is carrying on an extensive aerial propaganda throughout the country, 'planes dropping proclamations declaring that the Government is sticking to its guns and is determined to triumph over the few malcontent soldiers led by the welli known conspirator-rebel Dias." Tho Dictatorship will continue until a successor is legally provided. . _ General Carmona threatens death to citizens who support tho rebels. The Government has suppressed three newspapers in Oporto and has imprisoned the editors. The manufacture of dark bread only is permitted in order to prevent profiteering.
