Police cases m flic Magistrate's Court today were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M. A youth, aged 18, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, admitted stealing a purse and its contents, of a total value % .£?® 5s > tlle Property of his employer. Uuel-Detective. Ward said the purse had been left in a suit of clothes, but the accused said that he had found it on the floor, which was possibly true. He had taken it home, however, and had spent live shillings, which had since been refunded. The youth was admitted to probation for twelve months, on condition that he should not mis with people to whom either his employer or the Probation Officer (Mr. T. P. Mills) objected. John O'Connor, a seaman, aged 45, was fined £5, in default fourteen days' imprisonment, for stowing away on the Kaiwavra at Newcastle. For a breach of his prohibition order, John Maddock, a seaman, aged 42, was fined £2, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. He was fined a similar amount, in default seven days' imprisonment, for his fourth offence of drunkenness. His third offence of drunkenness cost Lionel George Hood, a labourer, aged 30, £1, in default, three days' imprisonment. He was allowed one week in which to find the money. , _ Appearing to answer a charge of steal-' :ng v motor-car and a quantity of benzine and oil, of a total value of £353 Bs, the property of Morris Hall Preston, Edgar Arthur Petersen, alias Robert Conway (20), and George Huia Brewer, alias Jack Wilson (19), both labourers, were remanded to appear at Masterton to-mor-row.

For his second offence of drunkenness, George Campbell, aged 45, was fined £1 by Mr. G. Petherick, J.P., in the Mount Cook Police Court to-day. One first offender was fined 10s, the amount of his bail.
