KIRK-WINDEYER CUP

HUTT'S NEW PROFESSIONAL \

The monthly meeting of the council was-held at the secretary's office on the 7th instant, when there were pre-. sent Messrs. R. C. Kirk (chairman), J. B. MacEwan, A. D. S. Duncan, W. E. A. Gill, A. J. Abbott, Captain. Conway, and G. O. Sutton (secretary).

Statement of finances showed credit balances totalling £694. • The resignation of Lindsay Boss, one of the association's professionals, was accepted as from the sth instant, he having accepted an appointment with the Hutt Golf Club. It was reported that J. Lambie has accepted the appointment of council, professional-of-fered him as from Ist March next, and it was considered that suitable arrangements can be made for providing clubs with coaching in addition to the engagements that Lambie will be able to fill.

It was reported that all arrangements are completed for the professionals' autumn tournament at Rotorua on the 9th, 10th, and 11th March, and programmes have been circulated to all clubs and professionals. In connection with, the Kirfc-Wind-eyer Cup, advice has been received from Australia that the New South Wales State Championship Meeting will commence on Saturday, 4th June, and the programmes for this meeting will reach us very shortly. The interstate matches are to be played just before or after this tournament. The challenge trophy for this event is being presented byMr. Kirk and Mr. Windeyer, and it was resolved to recommend that the four miniatures each year should be provided by the association of the State in. which the competition is that year played. . . ;

Mr. J. B. MacEwan, who was appointed the association's representatiy* on the Wellington Sports Committee for the entertainment of officers and men. of- tho Eenown, reported that he had advised the General Sports Committee that he would be responsible for arranging for cars each day for.those -who wish to go out to the golf links around Wellington.
