COMMISSION AT WAITARA

' . WAITARA, This Day. The confiscated Native Lands Commission,, whiclv formally opened at New Plymouth this morning, has arrived at Waitara, where a Native reception of the Commission and the officers is now in progress. The proceedings include a series of hakas and poi dances, the ■whole representing the. story and feelings of Te Whiti and his people concerning the early Acts of Parliament under which their lands were taken by the Crown. .
_ The addresses of counsel for the Natives, Mr. S. Smith, and counsel for the Crown, Mr. Taylor, of the Crown Law Office, will be., commenced to-morrow; morning. Approximately 500 Natives, including .representatives of Auckland Tauranga, Waikato, and Picton, arc gathered at Waitara. . '
