SUPREME COURT
PALMERSTON NORTH GASES
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
PALMERSTON N., This Day. The Supreme Court opened this morning, before Mr. Justice M'Gregor. Addressing the Grand Jury his Honour stated that .there were only three charges to "be investigated, but' all were of a grave character. There were two indictments for murder against William George Sloman, of Levin; but the facts were, clear arid simple. The evidence would make it apparent that Sloman killed both his wife and daughter and then- attempted suicide by poison. The only defence available was that of insanity, which was not a ■matter for the Grand Jury. The other indictment, against John Diamond, was for causing : death through alleged negligent driving. .
The Grand/Jury returned true bills in both cases. .• : .
